The 1970s, Brazil under the iron grip of a military dictatorship. An outstanding scientist, Marcelo, returns to his hometown of Recife to take his son to a safe place. The sun-drenched city is on the edge of madness—people disappear during carnival, somewhere on the beach a shark with a human leg in its stomach has been found, and two killers arrive in the city. Marcelo once crossed a dangerous mob boss a few years earlier, and now he must hide. His life hangs by a thread.
