Warsaw at the end of the 19th century. Stanisław Wokulski's (Marcin Dorociński) heart is consumed by mad love for Izabela Łęcka (Kamila Urzędowska). Thanks to the fortune he acquired during the war, he returns to Poland and decides to enter the world of high society to win the hand of his beloved. She is dazzling and haughty, but despite her aristocratic origins, she grapples with the specter of financial ruin. At Wokulski's side stands his faithful friend, Ignacy Rzecki (Marek Kondrat), a romantic who nostalgically observes the world of ideals giving way to social aspirations and the ruthless interplay of business interests. Wokulski enters the labyrinth of aristocratic salons, where every gesture could be the beginning of intrigue, and every word a harbinger of betrayal.
