Asmik Grigorian returns to New York to portray Tatiana, the young, lovestruck heroine of the operatic adaptation of Pushkin’s poem. Igor Golovatenko appears as Onegin, playing an elegant yet emotionally distant man who realizes his true feelings too late. The production is directed by Tony Award winner Deborah Warner, in a staging full of passion and Tchaikovsky’s lyricism.
The opera, in the style of magical realism, tells the story of love and passion between Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. Isabel Leonard and Carlos Álvarez star in the leading roles, with Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducting. Deborah Colker’s direction and choreography infuse the story with vivid colors and intense emotions, creating an unforgettable spectacle.
